Europcar to Launch Eco-friendly Lineup |
|
Europcar, the leader of car hire in Europe, has announced that they will be introducing the Peugeot iON and Citroen C-Zero electric-powered cars into their fleet next year. These are the first new generation electric-powered vehicles to hit the car hire market on the continent.
The cars will allow the car renter’s customers to drive as far as 150km on a fully charged battery. The cars will be silent and won’t emit CO2 emissions, nor other pollutants, which increases their ecological benefit further. After Europcar introduces the two new models, they will gradually install infrastructure for recharging the batteries at their about 2,500 locations throughout Europe. This deal will enhance their offering in terms of a zero-emissions fleet. It also further shows their commitment to promoting green mobility with green car rentals. Europcar Group chief executive Philippe Guillemot said that they are proud of this new partnership, as it is in keeping with their core commitments to technological innovation and sustainable development. They want to demonstrate their ability to contribute to and innovate new mobility solutions, he added. The car hire company, which is owned by Eurazeo has pioneered sustainable development since the opening of their first environmental station for electric-powered vehicles in 1999 in Paris. This partnership further strengthens their environmental strategy. The deal to launch the new iON and C-Zero into the car hire sector was signed at the Paris Motor Show. PSA Peugeot Citroen executive vice president of sales, marketing and after sales Jean-Marc Gales was present at the signing, as well as the company’s central marketing director, Christian Peugeot.
